The broad field of animal-assisted interventions (AAI) has grown in popularity and publicity in the past decade. One hears more and more reports in the media about the value of animals involved in visitation programs to hospitals and schools, reading-to-animal programs shown to increase children’s reading scores, and a wide range of programs for military service members struggling with reintegration and post-traumatic stress disorder.
